Jerry Thompson & Associates, Inc. (JTA) is a small business founded in 1984. Our core areas of expertise include airspace analysis and engineering, airport planning, aviation economics, communications, navigation, surveillance, and terminal/enroute automation. JTA is headquartered in Washington DC and has a remote office in Egg Harbor Township, NJ to support the William J. Hughes Technical Center.

Leadership Team

Dean Johnston


Mr. Johnston oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization and is responsible for the future direction of JTA. Mr. Johnston is an electrical engineer and has over 35 years of experience in directing a wide variety of business operations including over 10 years of experience in direct support of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Chris Sontaie Ferrell

Vice President of Business Development

Ms. Ferrell has over 20-years of experience in many aspects of aviation – always with a focus on growth. Her career highlights span the legal industry, serving under Governor Schwarzenegger’s administration, and as a Director for a large global ANSP holding a variety of leadership roles. Chris also enjoyed living in the Middle East while leading the development of a plan to help transform its air transportation system to accommodate its growth. She is a Commercial, Multi-Engine, Instrument Rated pilot and an Airframe & Powerplant mechanic.

David Frame

Vice President of Engineering

Mr. Frame leads the Systems Engineering group which concentrates on technical and operational issues. Mr. Frame brings an extensive history of working on most of the FAA major programs at a very detailed functional level. He is well known for his expertise on management, air traffic control, traffic management and system design.
